With thousands of tech companies, consumers and journalists entering the Mobile World Congress, developers were presented with a unique challenge to simplify the badge-authentification process and keep visitors moving through the door quickly.
To combat this issue, Incipio and GSMA partnered with DeviceFidelity, Inc, the global leader in mobile NFC and security solutions, to produce products that lets Android and iPhone users experience the power of NFC and get inside the conference a little faster.
According to NFC World, Incipio distributed Cashwrap iPhone cases at their booth that allowed visitors to speed through the entry process without showing a photo ID. This was the first time NFC capabilities were available to iPhone users.
GSMA also developed an additional function to its NFC Badge service and partnered with nine mobile carriers to ensure speedy entrance into the facility.
“‘This process will confirm the attendee's identity and enable validation of the NFC Badge before the attendee arrives at the event," the GSMA says. "Pre-validation of the NFC Badge via mobile will eliminate the need for having to show identity documents for entry into Fira Gran Via.’”
The potential for NFC-enabled devices extends far beyond visitor identification. I’m excited to see how this technology expands to the fitness and the food service industries as well.
