Samsung unveils Galaxy Note 8.0

Samsung, a leader in the world of phablets (for more information on phablets click here), unveiled a brand new phablet Monday called the Galaxy Note 8.0. This Galaxy Note is the latest in a string of phablets that have been very popular. Why, you might have seen the Super Bowl commercial for the Galaxy...

So, what's new about the Galaxy Note 8.0? Well, it is smaller than the 10-inch Galaxy tablet and bigger than the 5.5 inch Galaxy Note 2. This means that the Galaxy Note 8.0 allows you to do everything a tablet and phone does on just one device. Also, it is smaller and easier to carry around than most tablets. And, it has a bigger screen than almost any mobile phone.

So how big is 8 inches? Well, it is about the size of a pen in length and depth. It is also sleek and weighs just .74 pounds. Samsung says this means the Galaxy Note 8 is perfect for carrying around with you anywhere. Woman can fit this into a purse, but guys would have to carry this around. Sorry guys but there is no way that you can fit this into your cargo pants.

Other attractive features of the Galaxy Note 8 are an improved stylist pen for writing and an enhanced feature that allows the tablet to become a universal remote control.

So, what does this mean for you? The Galaxy Note 8 is in direct competition for the iPad mini. It doubles as a phone for international consumers. However, it will only be released as a tablet in the United States. A price has yet to be announced, but the Galaxy Note 8 has a strong set of features that make it more like a notebook than the iPad mini is (SD card slot and a better stylist). In the end, it will most likely come down to whether the consumer in the United States likes Apple or Google better.
