Money Made Mobile

Day one at the Mobile World Congress brought some exciting announcements to mobile payment fans.

Visa has partnered with ROAM and Samsung to help make mobile payment more mainstream. The partnership with ROAM will allow merchants big and small to be able to accept mobile payment. Under it's new Ready Partner Program, Visa hopes to displace cash at the register. The partnership with Samsung is significant because rumor has it all new Samsung devices will come loaded with Visa's PayWave app. As of December 2012, Samsung is the largest mobile manufacturer.

MasterCard Fans got some good news too. MasterCard announced MasterPass, which revolutionizes their mobile payment system and allows mobile payments both in-store and online. They are expected to announce more in the coming days, so stay tuned!

Lastly, in US test markets, it was reported that NFC payments have doubled since October.
